Stop the mutilation of our children - international petition!
Medical transition of minors has spread faster than the evidence. Puberty blockers are not a neutral “pause.” Used in this context, they interrupt normal development and are usually followed by cross-sex hormones. Cross-sex hormones impair fertility and sexual function. Surgeries on minors — including mastectomy — permanently remove healthy tissue.
Several systematic reviews used by European health authorities have found the evidence for these interventions in adolescents to be weak. Countries including Sweden, Finland, England, and Norway have sharply limited routine use of blockers and hormones for gender-distressed youth. Detransition and regret are documented; long-term outcome data remain poor.
The International Organization for the Family is launching this petition so citizens who do not yet have a national campaign can still be counted. Where local partners exist — including in the United States and France — signatures will reinforce their legislative work. Where they do not, the petition creates a public record that politicians cannot ignore.
Petition
We, the undersigned, call on legislators and governments in every country to protect minors from medical interventions performed in the name of gender transition.
We ask that national and regional laws:
Ban surgical procedures on minors that remove, sterilize, or artificially construct sex characteristics for the purpose of gender transition.
Ban the use of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones on minors for the purpose of gender transition.
Ensure that children experiencing sex-related distress receive careful psychological assessment and treatment of mental-health and developmental conditions, rather than a pathway toward medical transition.
Preserve the right of parents to be fully informed and involved in decisions about their child’s care, consistent with child-protection law.
Puberty is not a disease. Children cannot give meaningful consent to sterility, loss of sexual function, or surgeries they may later regret. Growing evidence reviews and policy reversals in several European countries have already restricted these practices. Other countries should follow with clear statutory bans, not clinical guidelines that shift with ideology.
We sign in support of children — girls and boys — and of laws that put their long-term health above activist demand.
