In the aftermath of the Brussels terrorist attack, President Obama is showing more anger toward Ted Cruz — who suggested patrolling areas where Islamic radicalization is occurring — than at the terrorists themselves, the Republican candidate said this morning. Speaking Thursday in Buenos Aires, Obama likened Cruz’s proposal to the totalitarianism Cruz’s father fled in Cuba.
“You know, it’s rich saying Obama attacking me when he just got back from going to a baseball game with the Castros, celebrating and toasting a communist dictator who tortures and murders his citizens, who oppresses them and who is rabidly anti-American and who spreads terrorism throughout Latin America,” Cruz said in an appearance on Fox News Sunday. “As the president noted, yes, my father was in prison and tortured in Cuba. So was my aunt. She was imprisoned and tortured by Castro’s goons in Cuba.”
“And yet, what President Obama has done, what Hillary Clinton has done, what John Kerry has done is sent billions of dollars to the enemies of America, billions of dollars to the Castros, that they will use to increase repression, increase spreading terrorism throughout Latin America, and over $100 billion to the Ayatollah Khamenei in Iran,” he continued. ”That money will be used to fund Islamic terrorists that are coming to murder Americans, murder Europeans, to murder Israelis. And it will be used to fund their nuclear program and their ICBM program, which is designed to murder millions of Americans.”
“You notice Obama and Hillary seemed more mad at me than they are at ISIS, than they are the terrorists who are murdering,” Cruz told guest host Shannon Bream.

Donald Trump eschewed an opportunity to condemn a National Enquirer article claiming his opponent, Ted Cruz, has conducted a number of affairs with his female staff. The Enquirer, Trump said this morning, “actually has a very good record of being right.”
Trump, in an appearance on ABC’s This Week, accused Ted Cruz of starting their current spat, and suggested his campaign is (illegally) coordinating with an anti-Trump super PAC:
He’s the one that started it. And from what I hear, he and his campaign went out and bought the cover shoot. She did a — Melania did a cover story for ‘GQ,’ a very strong modeling picture. No big deal. But it was a cover story for ‘GQ,’ a big magazine. And it was, you know, fine. And from what I hear, somebody bought the — the rights to it and he was the one or his campaign bought the rights and they gave it to the super PAC. And just so you understand, that super PAC is very friendly to Ted Cruz. He knew all about it, 100 percent. So he started it. I didn’t start it.
“This story, this — that we see in The National Enquirer, this kind of rumor-mongering, should this kind of thing just be off limits?” ABC’s Jon Karl asked. ”Do you condemn this story?”
“I don’t care, I’m really, I don’t care,” Trump replied. “The National Enquirer did a story, it was their story, it wasn’t my story, it was about Ted Cruz. I have no idea whether it was right or not. They actually have a very good record of being right. … I hope it’s not right.”

Ron Fournier of National Journal says that the GOP’s “top two presidential candidates are abusing each other’s wives.” Mollie Hemingway comments: “This is simply not true. Trump has abused Cruz’s wife. But Cruz has praised Trump’s wife. There is not any reason to believe that Cruz has done anything that Fournier accuses him of. I asked Fournier for evidence of his incendiary claim. He didn’t provide any.” And as Hemingway points out, Fournier isn’t the only one who is pretending that Cruz has gotten into the gutter with Trump.
