Key allegations that tied then-candidate Donald Trump to Russia and led to the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller originated with individuals linked to Hillary Clinton and her presidential campaign, with former officials now questioning why Mueller’s team of seasoned prosecutors didn't report those connections as part of their years-long probe, saying the absence of that information "calls into question their entire investigation."

This week, the Supreme Court decided Cedar Point Nursery v. Hassid, a challenge by agricultural producers in California against a regulation under the state’s agricultural unionization law that compelled producers to allow union organizers to “take access” of their property to conduct union organizing activities. The growers argued that that regulation constituted a legal taking of their property for which they had not been compensated, and the Supreme Court, in an opinion by Chief Justice John Roberts, agreed. The ruling shows that while federal (and state) labor laws exist in a weird limbo land where longstanding legal precedents have effectively traduced the original meaning of the Constitution to benefit union organizing, the current Court is willing to limit how extensive those union power grants can be, as it has in government-worker union power cases like Janus v. AFSCME.

On Sunday, New York Times reporter Jeremy Peters found himself deeply disturbed by what he hinted was racist criticism of four new liberal congresswomen. The four left-wing Democrats known as “The Squad” have replaced Nancy Pelosi had been replaced as a conservative enemy: "After barely eight months in office, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez and three other progressive women of color have reached a level of notoriety that is virtually unheard-of for freshman House members, largely thanks to the kind of relentless conservative fire usually trained on far more senior Democrats....attacks on the congresswomen...show how broadly accepted Mr. Trump’s racial and cultural instigations have become in the Republican Party."
