Bill Maher is on a hiatus from his HBO Real Time show until January. However, that doesn't mean he isn't still providing a bit of humor even if it's inadvertent. And Maher's latest bit of unintentional humor comes in the form of a presidential endorsement for 2020. What his endorsement reveals is how laughably shallow the Democrat field of potential candidates is.

Conservative organizations are rallying to defend President-Elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet appointees from signs of a mounting smear campaign from liberals and their allies in the media. America Rising Squared (AR2) launched the website ConfirmPruitt.com Wednesday to support Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt’s nomination to serve as the Environmental Protection Agency administrator. Just a week earlier, the Judicial Crisis Network launched a campaign called ConfirmSessions.com to support Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions’ confirmation to the position of attorney general. “Senate Democrats now face a choice between the extreme environmentalist Left and commonsense, thoughtful leadership at the EPA.” Both designated appointees have received an inordinate share of fire from left-aligned organizations and figures in the media. “Senate Democrats now face a choice between the extreme environmentalist Left and commonsense, thoughtful leadership at the EPA,” Brian Rogers, executive director of AR2, said of Pruitt in a press release Wednesday. “America Rising and our conservative allies are proud to stand with Attorney General Pruitt and look forward to

The Battle of the Bulge was the largest and bloodiest battle fought by the U.S. during World War II. It involved 610,000 Americans, 55,000 British, 72,000 Free French along Europe’s Western Front for nearly 40 days. There were 89,000 American casualties and over 100,000 German casualties. Egyptian officials scrapped a plan to proceed with a United Nations Security Council vote condemning the construction of Israeli settlements, following pushback from Israeli officials and President-elect Trump. Egypt requested the vote's delay to permit them to conduct an additional meeting of the Arab League's foreign ministers to work on the resolution's wording, Haaretz reported, citing Western diplomats. But the vote might be postponed indefinitely, according to the report. Israeli settlement construction drew condemnation from the State Department earlier this year, in addition to the rebukes of more customary critics, raising fears in Israel and among congressional Republicans that President Obama might not veto a resolution on the matter in the waning days of his presidency. President-elect Trump stated his opposition to the resolution, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was lobbying Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to drop the resolution.

In another example of the media’s double standard, ABC went after Donald Trump today for not holding a press conference in months, but didn’t seem to mind when Hillary Clinton went nearly twice as long without a press conference. Thursday on Good Morning America, correspondent Cecilia Vega bashed Trump for only talking to the press for “seconds,” hyping Trump’s lack of availability since becoming elected. However, ABC didn’t press Clinton when she was running for ignoring the press for 277 days.

Newt Gingrich on Thursday said he goofed by saying a day earlier that President-elect Trump had discarded his drain the swamp mentality. I want to report that I made a big boo boo, the former speaker said in a video he posted online. I talked this morning with President-elect Donald Trump. He reminded me he likes draining the swamp. I mischaracterized it the other day. He intends to drain the swamp. He even describes it as 'DTS.' Trump issued a social media repudiation earlier on Thursday that appeared to be aimed squarely at Gingrich, who has been an ally to the incoming president. Someone incorrectly stated that the phrase "DRAIN THE SWAMP" was no longer being used by me. Actually, we will always be trying to DTS.— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 22, 2016
