Donald Trump is an ink blot, open to interpretation. Because he has no prior political history, we don’t know what he’s going to do. We’ve been told we can’t even take him literally, we just have to take him seriously – which, presumably means that we’re supposed to try and read his mind for his “message” while ignoring specifics, unless he’s serious about the specifics, in which case we should take him both literally and seriously. This means that everybody attempting to predict Trump’s presidency has a bit of a dilemma: which Trump do we pay attention to?
