President Obama's decision to send $400 million in cash to Iran appears to violate federal law banning the shipment of any goods to the regime, according to a pair of Republican senators. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, want a full accounting of the decision to send $400 million in foreign currency to Iran. Obama's team has justified the shipment as the first installment in repaying $1.7 billion that the United States owes Iran from a transaction that predates the 1979 revolution, but Republicans believe it functioned as a ransom payment for the release of American hostages who were set free in conjunction with the shipment. Although the administration has denied there was any quid pro quo, the close temporal proximity of the payment to the release of the hostages suggests otherwise, the senators wrote. As the Justice Department is never remiss to point out in court, an illicit quid pro quo can be inferred from the timing of the quid and the quo.

The Department of Commerce is set to hand off the final vestiges of American control over the Internet to international authorities in less than two months, officials have confirmed. The department will finalize the transition effective Oct. 1, Assistant Secretary Lawrence Strickling wrote on Tuesday, barring what he called any significant impediment. The move means the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority, which is responsible for interpreting numerical addresses on the Web to a readable language, will move from U.S. control to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, a multistakeholder body based in Los Angeles that includes countries such as China and Russia. Critics of the move, most prominently Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, have pointed out the agency could be used by totalitarian governments to shut down the Web around the globe, either in whole or in part. For the self-described "most transparent administration ever" it appears keeping the lies straight is becoming harder and harder. Having slammed the press, Donald Trump, and anyone who dare mention the "lack of logic" in paying a $400 million ransom for 4 Iran hostages, WSJ reports that Treasury officials have confirmed that Obama lied and in fact, the tightly scripted exchange of cash was specifically timed to the release of several American prisoners held in Iran. Trump was right again.

Assuming Donald Trump loses to Hillary Clinton (and it's an easy assumption to make), the question many people will ask is, "What's next for Donald Trump?" The answer may very well have been answered already. With Trump bringing aboard Roger Ailes and Steve Bannon to the campaign, it is not out of the realm of possibility that long term plans include a cable news station. | Read More »
