It seems possible, even probable, that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will get 49 members of his caucus to join him in blocking witness testimony in the impeachment trial and moving to an up-or-down vote on Friday. I believe this may be a mistake from an election optics perspective; Democrats will use this against every …

On his talk radio program Wednesday, Rush Limbaugh addressed the “tremendous amount of fallout” from a Don Lemon-hosted CNN panel discussion over the weekend that devolved into the guests mocking Trump supporters as illiterate, uneducated “rubes,” while the host laughed hysterically. Along with resulting in enough pressure that Lemon felt compelled to defend himself, insisting […]

RINOs Strike Again– Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told Republican Senators on Tuesday he does not have the votes to block senate witnesses. No doubt — Mitt Romney, Susan Rice, Lisa Murkowsky, and Alexander bought into the Democrat spin and want to hear from John Bolton and other White House officials. From the article — …

With witnesses in the House impeachment trial looking questionable, ABC on Tuesday lamented the Democratic strategy, lashing out at Nancy Pelosi and the House for botching the effort to remove Donald Trump. During a live interview, Senator Richard Blumenthal said of the move to not have witnesses: “They may have the votes at this moment.” An alert George Stephanopoulos noticed this and remarked that the Democrat “may have buried the lede,” adding, “He said about six sentences in they may have the votes at the moment.”

In this essay, I introduce a slew of neologisms—new words—to capture the tone and substance of much discourse, rhetoric, dysfunction, and bias in academia and psychology. It’s partly inspired by an article entitled ‘Lexicon for Gender Bias in Academia and Medicine’ by Drs Choo and May in the British Medical Journal (BMJ), although that one was coming at this from a different perspective. They argued that “mansplaining” was just the “tip of the iceberg” and so coined terms such as “Himpediment,” defined as a “man who stands in the way of progress of women.”  Adminomania: A delusion that increased administrative and bureaucratic intrusions into people’s lives will actually improve something, fueled primarily by a pervasive blindness to unintended negative side effects. See Title IX. Athletic gynocide: The elimination from sports competitions of people identified at birth by doctors or other adults as female because they cannot successfully compete with people identified at birth by doctors or other adults as males but who identify as females. Bias bias: A bias for seeing biases, often manifesting as either claiming bias …

There’s a reason Mitch McConnell has been Senate Majority Leader for the past 13 years: He gets the job done. And the biggest part of that job is keeping the GOP caucus, however necessary. At this point, he appears to have pulled off the feat once again. On Wednesday, McConnell (R-Ky.) and Sen. Lisa Murkowski …

Newly elected San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin grabbed headlines earlier this week after saying he would not prosecute “quality-of-life” crimes including public urination -- but that’s only part of what’s on the agenda for the 39-year-old former public defender with a past that's radical even by California standards.

Chesa Boudin’s world has never been free from the American criminal justice system. When he was just over a year old, his parents — left-wing radicals in the Weather Underground — took part in a Brinks armored car robbery outside New York City that ended in the murder of two police officers and a security guard. Before he could walk, he was making monthly trips through prison metal detectors and steel bars to visit his mom and dad. Like many other children of incarcerated parents, he was set up for a life of hardship and heartbreak. But nearly four decades later, Boudin, 38, is a deputy public defender in San Francisco.
