ell the President and Congress they must act quickly to stop American jihadists from using their passports to return to the United States. In the words of President Obama “If you threaten America, you will find no safe haven.” That should also include here.
ISIS is a direct threat to the national security of the United States.
According to Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, around 100 US Citizens, who are Muslim, traveled to Iraq or Syria to wage jihad for ISIS.
Currently, these people hold US passports and would be eligible for reentry back into the United States.
September 11, 2001, as a nation, we vowed never again. Our national security is not a political game and must be taken seriously.
Please help by signing our petition to Congress asking them to move quickly to approve legislation that revokes the passports of US citizens who travel to the Middle East to fight for ISIS.
This week, Senator Ted Cruz filed the Expatriate Terrorist Act of 2014, which would amend the existing statute governing renunciation of U.S. citizenship to include fighting for a hostile foreign government or foreign terrorist organization as an affirmative renunciation of citizenship. Representative Frank Wolf is expecting to introduce a similar legislation in the House of Representatives.
They must move quickly to pass a unified version of the bills. The President must sign and enforce it quickly.
The Petition
They must not be granted safe haven here!
Dear Mr. President and Members of Congress:
Please treat the national security of this country as a top priority by stopping American jihadists from using their passports to return to the United States.
According to Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, around 100 US Citizens, who are Muslim, traveled to Iraq or Syria to wage jihad for the Islamic State.
It should be without saying that ISIS is a direct threat to the national security of the United States.
On September 10, 2014, President Obama addressed the nation and said "“If you threaten America, you will find no safe haven.” That should also include not being allowed to retreat back into the United States.
Congress must act immediately to create legislation that revokes the passports of US citizens who travel to the Middle East to fight for ISIS.
Senator Ted Cruz and Representative Frank Wolf intend to introduce separate bills. Move quickly in passing a unified version and enforcing it.
