Student Government Ignores the Majority; Bows to Intolerant Minority
According to Todd Starnes at Fox News,
“The war on poultry rages on yet another public university campus – this time at the University of Nebraska – Kearney.
The hullabaloo started last January when students were asked to select a new dining option for the student union. Their choices included Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, IHOP, A&W and Sbarro.
The youngsters chose Chick-fil-A – in a landslide…
…However, it turns out majority does not rule at the University of Nebraska – Kearney. A vocal minority pitched a fit and demanded that Chick-fil-A be banished from campus…
…All the anti-chicken contingent needed for their nefarious plan to succeed was a yellow-bellied student government. And they got what they were looking for.”
Bowing to the intolerance of the minority the student government re-polled the student body but this time did not include Chick-fil-A as an option.
Rightfully so, the majority in the student body are fighting mad and as a result a forum will be held next week to discuss the issue.
Make your voice heard before the forum, sign the petition urging the Student Government to respect the wishes of the majority of students and allow Chick-fil-A on campus.
The Petition
Respect the Student's Wishes Don't Bow to Intolerance
I’ve recently learned of your decision to refuse to respect the majority of the students at the University of Nebraska – Kearney and their desire to have a Chick-fil-A on campus. As leaders elected by popular vote, a vote you were happy to respect at the time, it is your duty to stand by the wishes of your constituents.
It is unfortunate that you so far have bowed to the intolerance of a vocal minority in dropping Chick-fil-A as an option for the student body. However, I hope that you will reconsider your position and respect the results of the original vote you held.
Sincerely,
