US Senate Vote NO to Radical UN Disabilities Treaty

The US Senate is working to revive a controversial United Nations treaty surrounding public policy for persons with disabilities. The agenda of the treaty is more about UN forcing member states to accept public policy and less about helping people who have disabilities. The document in itself does not even define the term disability.

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) is an international treaty requiring each UN member state to adopt pre-established political, civil, social, educational, and cultural rights mandates for persons with disabilities.

The UN has ratified the treaty, but in order for the mandates to come into effect, each member state must vote on it in their individual government body. It is now up to the US Senate to accept such measures.

This document has several flaws:

  • It threatens US sovereignty to make and enforce our own laws concerning persons with disabilities.
  • It violates and overrides existing individual (US) state laws.
  • It is against parents' or caregivers' right to homeschool their children.
  • It provides public funding for abortion to people who have “disabilities.”

President Obama and Senate Democrats are grossly in favor of the new measures. It is up to us to notify Senate Republicans of the harmful effects of accepting this legislation.

Signing this petition sends an alert to Senate leadership.

US Senate Vote NO to Radical UN Disabilities Treaty

Dear Senator:

We urge you to vote NO on ratifying the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).

The agenda of the treaty is more about forcing member states to accept public policy and less about helping people who have disabilities. The document in itself does not define disability.

This treaty threatens US sovereignty, individual states’ rights, parents' rights to homeschool their children, and provides public funding for abortion for people who have disabilities. Accepting this treaty most certainly threatens our existing rights.

Please protect our rights!
