Freedom for Asia Bibi

Asia Bibi | (Pakistan Authorities) |
During Christmas, Asia Bibi sent a letter to the Pope. The letter was hopeful and said “pray for me.”
In February, a team from CitizenGO will go to Pakistan and visit Asia Bibi. In addition to signing a petition of support, we are giving you an opportunity to write your own letter of encouragement to Asia Bibi and we will hand deliver it for you. Please, show your solidarity and support by joining us in this campaign. She needs to know we are praying for her.
Due to their faith, Christians are being persecuted in many parts of the world. 100,000 Christians are killed each year, 150 million Christians persecuted. The XXI century was supposedly the century of “human rights,” but is much bloodier for than ever before for Christians.
Asia Bibi is a Pakistani Christian that was charged and convicted for “blasphemy” by the Pakistani Authorities in 2009. On 11 November 2010 she was sentenced to death, but fortunately the judgment has not yet been implemented yet.
We ask you to read the letter that was sent to Pope Francis on Christmas:
“To your holiness, Pope Francis, in name of Our Lord, omnipotent and glorious, I, Asia Bibi, would like to express all my deep thankfulness to God and you, Holy Father. I also expect that every Christian had the opportunity to celebrate the last Christmas joyfully. Like many other prisoners, I also have celebrated the birth of the Lord in the prison of Multan, here in Pakistan.
I am deeply thankful to all churches that are praying for me and fight for my liberty. I do not know how further I will be to go. I am still alive thanks to the strength of their prayers. I have met many people that speak and fight for me. Unfortunately, this has not solved the problem yet. Now I just want to trust in almighty God’s mercy. Only He can set me free.”
Overall, dear Holy Father please accept my best wishes for the New Year. I know that you pray for me with all your heart. And this makes me trust that one day my freedom will be possible. With the conviction that you remember me in your prayers, I greet you gently. Asia Bibi, your daughter in faith.”
Asia Bibi’s letter to the Pope is truly moving. It shows her strength and faith. Soon we will visit her and we will deliver your messages of support, solidarity, and admiration. She is a woman whose fortitude in faith allows her to face the unfair captivity and all the penalties.
