Alaska’s Attorney General, Michael Geraghty, has declared he will do his sworn duty and defend Alaska’s constitutional amendment on marriage, approved by the voters in 1998. His public commitment stands in stark contrast to activist judges and unprincipled state officials in other states who have abandoned their duty to defend duly enacted marriage laws and state amendments. His integrity and commitment to fulfill his oath of office is commendable, especially in a culture where the historic and common sense definition of marriage is under assault.
