By Stephen Dietrich, Managing Editor I can think of no better example of how terrible the mainstream media has gotten in the United States than the shoddy reporting surrounding the strong armed robbery of Ryan Lochte and the three U.S. Olympic swimmers that were held in Brazil. “Vandals, not...

In a brilliant maneuver perfectly timed to complement his campaign revamp, Republican nominee Donald Trump today landed in Louisiana to witness first-hand the devastation wrought by flooding not seen there since Hurricane Katrina pummeled the Gulf Coast in 2005. Trump’s arrival on the scene helps him on a number of levels. Most importantly, it provides a dramatic contrast to Hillary Clinton and President Obama, both of whom have neglected to visit a region where more than a dozen have died and tens of thousands have been forced out of their homes. Acting like a leader who is there for average Americans is exactly what propelled Trump to the Republican nomination. Trump’s move to see for himself the plight of disaster victims lends him a presidential aura that critics say he has been lacking due to off-the-cuff remarks that have, at times, sounded as crass and immature. Obama, the actual president, has responded absurdly, refusing to budge from the Martha’s Vineyard golf

After months of waiting like Vladimir and Estragon for Godot, Republican voters finally got what they’ve been waiting for: THE PIVOT™. Trump gave his third solid speech of the week last night. This time, he dropped the line that he should have dropped months ago: he’s sorry. It was smart. And it could change the race.

“A man is known by the company he keeps,” Aesop reportedly wrote. It is a warning NeverTrumpers should heed. In their refusal to support the Republican candidate, the conservative NeverTrumpers are aligning themselves with the nastiest left-wingers in America. “A man is known by the company he keeps.” Whether they wish to admit it or not, their eager participation in mainstream media’s anti-Trump fear mongering is giving the Left valuable ammunition. Liberals are quoting figures associated with the GOP, such as Bill Kristol and Lindsey Graham, as if they are political oracles of the day — and at least one liberal journalist says that vitriolic anti-Trump criticism from those on the right is emboldening the Left in their attacks against Trump. To these NeverTrumpers, who are so conservative they would rather vote for an ultra-liberal Democrat than a possibly not-so-conservative Republican, Donald Trump is apparently more of a threat to the country than their new buddies, like the ones listed below. “I’m starting to hate that moment when Olympic runners helped each other to the finish line,” declared Slate writer Justin Peters in a headline on Wednesday. The moment in question occurred during a 5,000 meter heat in Rio on Tuesday. Nikki Hamblin of New Zealand fell and took out American Abbey D’Agostino with her. D’Agostino help Hamlin to her feet, while Hamblin cheered on D’Agostino when she showed signs of a knee injury, and both finished roughly two minutes behind first place.
