Whatever one may think of it, businessman Donald Trump's recent call for a temporary U.S. ban on Muslim immigration is in no way directly comparable to the very genuine horrors of the Holocaust, or the murderous regime of Adolf Hitler; however, that hasn't stopped many media outlets from using photographic content to foster the comparison.

Dangerous news: Justin Trudeau just appointed a Saudi-born extremist, Omar Alghabra, to be Parliamentary Secretary to the foreign minister. That means he's in charge of our international consulates.
With thousands of Syrian migrants flooding into Canada, and the risk of Islamic terrorism at an all-time high, this is a recipe for disaster.

The United States has always been a land of immigration. Some 12,000 years ago, the first indigenous people crossed the ice bridge connecting Asia to North America, yet it wasn't until the end of the 15th century that Europeans set their eyes on the New World in numbers. The French and Spanish were the first to establish settlements before the English and Dutch, among others, founded their first permanent colonies. On the eve of the American Revolution, the land was already a kaleidoscope of languages and ethnicities. Ever since the founding of the United States, immigration laws have been put in place, reformed, dismantled. These laws reflected the needs of the time, but often represent political statements of peoples' perceptions, which have cycled back and forth from favorable to hostile. This timeline looks at the immigration policies and associated rules put in place, from the forefathers' first steps, to the challenges faced in today's globalized world.

RUSH: He knows exactly what to do and how to do it to own their attention and airtime. He says things that he knows will drive them crazy. He says things over and over that he knows will drive them insane, and then when they go insane, he doubles down on it and drives them even crazier. He also knows that his audience is in on what he is doing... He's confident that a lot of his voters are gonna be able to strip away the bombast and be able to get to the nuts and bolts of what he's saying, the kernel of truth of what he's saying. In the meantime, he ends up occupying political positions exclusively that many support.

So Donald Trump saying that there should be a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States” makes him some sort of crazy, dangerous guy?
If liberals — and even, astonishingly — some Republicans believe this? Wow. What in the world to then make of President Franklin D. Roosevelt? FDR, if one takes in the current wisdom, was Trump on steroids.
For those who read history, and alas, perhaps lots of people who should do not, there was FDR in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor and the entrance of the U.S. into war with Germany, Italy, and Japan doing the following things that would make Donald Trump look like a nerdy weakling.
Germany, Italy and the Japanese were the Muslims of the day in December, 1941. And FDR responded as follows, first with the Germans in presidential proclamation 2526 that was titled as being targeted to …this is a direct quote — “Aliens: Germans.” And what of those “Alien” Germans? FDR demanded that
