An illegal immigrant was arrested Thursday in Connecticut for sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl. Douglas Hus-Flores, a 19-year old Guatemalan living illegally in Stamford, Connecticut, was arrested just hours before a scheduled immigration hearing according to local police. “Putting all opinions about this presidential executive order aside, its enforcement is going to have a local impact.” Hus-Flores admitted his crime to police, telling them he “felt lonely and wanted to be with a woman,” according to the police report. A little over a week ago, Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy issued a memo to the state’s law enforcement officers ordering them not to comply with federal immigration enforcement. “Putting all opinions about this presidential executive order aside, its enforcement is going to have a local impact, especially given the constrained resources and financial impacts this will have on state and municipal budgets, which we already know are stretched to their limits, in addition to giving rise to serious concerns in affected communities,” Malloy

GRADING TRUMP: Week 6

Submitted 7 years ago by ActRight Community

As always, the Trump administration had a rocky up-and-down week. This week featured some particularly high highs, however, and not too many truly low lows. For the first time in weeks, Trump demonstrated some discipline politically; meanwhile, on personnel, he experienced a relatively serious slump. The policy failures aren’t truly Trump’s fault this week – he can fairly blame an overzealous media and left for that. But they’re still dogging him on a week that should have been a triumph for him. As a reminder, here are Trump’s grades thus far:

Amid Thursday’s over-hyped brouhaha about Jeff Sessions meeting with the Russian ambassador, a curious detail emerged. In Sessions's recusal memo, it was explained who at the Justice Department would be handling any investigations into the Trump campaign's alleged ties to Russia. Consistent with the succession order for the Department of Justice, Acting Deputy Attorney General and U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia Dana Boente shall act as and perform the functions of the Attorney General with respect to any matters from which I have recused myself to the extent they exist, reads Sessions's official statement on the matter. Except that if the Obama administration had its way, Dana Boente wasn't supposed be the U.S. attorney to handle these matters in the event that Sessions recused himself. On February 10, USA Today reported the following:
