By Patrick J. Buchanan
In a recent column Dennis Prager made an acute observation.
"The vast majority of leading conservative writers ... have a secular outlook on life. ... They are unaware of the disaster that godlessness in the West has led to."
These secular conservatives may think that "America can survive the death of God and religion," writes Prager, but they are wrong.
And, indeed, the last half-century seems to bear him out.

During World War II, his father fought in the Polish army, rising through the ranks to become a captain, while his mother endured eight concentration camps. Despite all odds, they both survived. After the war, they came to America seeking freedom, economic opportunity and the ability to provide a better life for their family. “My dad worked in the garment industry as a fabric cutter [in New York] on 32nd Street and 7th Avenue,” Kriegel recalled, but he didn’t come to this country to cut fabric. Instead, his father created his own American Dream. He ultimately became an interior designer and built a successful family business. “Becoming his own man; that is what he wanted,” Kriegel said. “His favorite song was Frank Sinatra’s ‘I did it my way.’ That was his thing. My parents never lost faith in America.” Through their example, Kriegel has come to cherish the values America was founded upon. “You have the Statue of Liberty in New York at Ellis Island, right there, greeting immigrants as they arrive to our shores, welcoming them to America ?
