The left routinely ridicules "slippery slope" arguments from sensible people who recognize that when you establish a dangerous principle or precedent in one area, the fallout will spread to others. The long since sadly vindicated prolife argument made 40 years ago warning that legalizing abortion would lead to wider acceptance of euthanasia is one such example. Most advocates for same-sex "marriage" have (at least in public) consistently argued that their attempts to legalize it would not in any way, shape or form open up the possiblity of legalizing polygamy. Well, the ink isn't even dry on today's Supreme Court ruling imposing the legal recognizion of same-sex "marriages" in all 50 states, and, lo and behold, we have Fredrik deBoer at Politico Magazine telling us that "It’s Time to Legalize Polygamy."

The day after declaring Obamacare magically rewritten and that the lawsuits against discrimination in housing require no proof of actual discrimination, the Supreme Court found a unicorn in the 14th Amendment.

You Will Be Assimilated

You may recall Brendan Eich. The cofounder and CEO of Mozilla was dismissed from his company in 2014 when it was discovered that, six years earlier, he had donated $1,000 to California’s Proposition 8 campaign. That ballot initiative, limiting marriage to one man and one woman, passed with a larger percentage of the vote in California than Barack Obama received nationally in 2012. No one who knew Eich accused him of treating his gay coworkers badly—by all accounts he was kind and generous to his colleagues.

Cultural Tyrants

The aftermath of the Charleston church massacre has been an interesting thing.Following the nine killed by 21-year-old ninth grade dropout and troglodyte Dylann Roof at the Mother Emanuel AME Church last week, the people of that venerable South Carolina city have given the nation one of our more inspiring spectacles — thousands gathering in prayer and demonstrating for unity and civility. Had the reaction of Charleston been the major story, the massacre — disgusting and tragic as it was — would have told us something good about the basic character of the American people.Your author will go so far as to say Charleston’s reaction has told us something true, as well — about most of us, at least.
